Sangkhla Buri hotels & places to stay

Very friendly hosts who speak very good English. Mon host Fa provides an authentic experience of life in Sangkhlaburi. Breakfast consists of varied traditional Mon food and tea and coffee is freely available. Accommodation is basic but the friendliness is unsurpassed. I was made to feel like one of the family. Booked for two nights and ended up staying much longer. Would not want to stay anywhere else in Sangkhlaburi.

If you are looking for some natural or chilled experience, it is definitely a great place to stay. Whether tents or rooms, you got a great view of the lake at your door way. The sunset and sunrise are just in front of you. You can also spend some time jumping into the lake. The water is warm enough till evening. Bring some alcohol and tobacco, it’ll be a peaceful night on the lake with little bit water waves. I love this place, and would highly recommended here as your stay in Sangkhlaburi, the dream like village.

A two second walk from the bus stop and we were at Oh Dee, the dorm beds where a lot bigger than a normal single with big comfy mattresses, decent pillows and duvet. Your own bed side light, plug and locker with key provided (no need for your own lock). The main attractions in this tiny town are the market and the bridge both of which are a short walk away. The hostel provides a free simple toast breakfast and a decent drink in the mornings and free drinking water throughout the day. Bikes are available to rent, there is a pool table, cafe, hammocks, TV, guitar all to keep you amused if the weather turns or if you just want to chill. A well equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, and plenty of bathrooms. The staff are lovely, very friendly and knowledgeable, and constantly cleaning to make this place seriously spotless!! We felt like it really was a home away from home. Definitely a recommended place to stay in Sangkhla!!! And we would of course stay there again.

We had a little bungalow in the back, which was cosy and clean. The air con was good and the bed was comfy. The biggest downside is that the bungalow seems to be surrounded by chickens, who woke us up at various points in the night. There is also no WiFi in the room but there may be in the rooms in the main building. The guesthouse has a good location as it is between the main town/buses and the lake/bridges, so it’s not a long walk to either place. It is also very near most of the restaurants in Sangkhla Buri (not that there are many). Another drawback for some may be that the hosts don’t speak any English at all. It didn’t matter to us as they’re nice enough and we didn’t need anything from them, but it’s something to bear in mind.

This hotel was difficult to find. Address listed in Agoda is cut off, and TA's location is miles away. Outside there is a Thai scrip sign only. The way I found it was to copy the Thai script hotel name from Agoda and paste it into the search bar for Maps. Booked a standard double room, clean and cute little room with TV (Thai shopping channel), large stiff bed, bedside table, and chairs. No fridge. Only one power point in the room. Tiny but functional bathroom and an odd attached sitting room, which is where the sink is. Car park holds just 3 cars. Wifi was strong. Location is good, a few blocks from town center (easy walk), and 800 meters up the hill from the wooden bridge. Recommend walking to town for dinner at the night market. Nice variety of food and a chance to mingle with the local residents. Although the room did not come with free breakfast, they did set out fried eggs and fruit in the morning. Overall I felt that the room was overpriced at $30.

This resort located so quit areas, even it not neaby the river, but u can walk to bridge just 10 mins. I recommended the garden in back of resort, pick a cup of coffee and some breakfasts, seating under the sunshine and feeling the breeze. The owner is so nice person, she took me to the station on her motorcycle, that's sweet to me, especially for solo traveler like me.

This is a brand new hotel, well-designed and with an enthusiastic management. It’s probably the best place to stay at the moment in Sangkhlaburi. It’s not in an interesting or pretty location, but they’re doing their best to improve the large grounds, and once the trees and shrubs have grown a bit more (it doesn’t take long in Thailand) it will feel more welcoming. The rooms are well above average for this area with nice balconies, but they would be more pleasant with one or two comfortable armchairs. The water system needs work; only cold water most of the time, but scalding hot on a sunny afternoon because the storage tanks are uninsulated. It seems that at the weekends the hotel is full (with Thai tourists) and the breakfasts are very good then; on weekdays when the hotel is nearly empty, they’re mediocre at best.

It was a bit difficult to find from the busstop as it is situated at the end of the village. Because of that it is nice and quiet. The room was spacious, with balcony and had a beautiful view on the lake. Nice bathroom and the wifi in het room was ok. There is a big restaurant, also viewing the lake and they serve good food and nice breakfast. Most of the staff hardly speak English, but they are very friendly. When I decided to walk to the village in the morning to find out if I could hire a bicycle somewhere, one of the girls came after me with her motorbike and took me to the place where I could hire the bicycle. Really very kind.

I only stayed here for a night, but it was a great stay. The location is very convenient, it's like a 2 minute walk to the bridge. The options for breakfast are fairly limited, but it was good. The staff there were very friendly. Specifically, the owner (I think) is such a kind person and takes the time to chat with you a bit while checking in or if he sees you around at the hotel. The only downside is that the wifi connection was not very stable, which was not an issue for me since I used my phone connection as a personal hotspot, but for others this may be a bit of a problem.

you are looking to get away from the hectic and to relax in a nice, quiet and huge resort, you can not miss this. this very nice resort is huge and has all what you are looking for to relax in the middle of natures gifts in great style. very nice and clean rooms (bungalows) at the lake side with all the comfort you can possibly get in the middle of nowhere. you can go around this resort, walking, running, by bike or bugy. i did it all. i can really recommend this resort and for sure i will go back. the service from the staff is excellent and they try their very best to for fill all your wishes. great.

This hotel was absolutely idyllic. I wanted to show my parents the different contrats of Thailand and they wanted to go places I hadn't been either (I have been living in Thailand for 2 years). We were a bit worried we would have to cancel the trip when my mum broke her arm but continued anyway. So glad we did. This place is like nothing I've ever seen before and the huts built off the hill over looking the lake were so different and cosy. The staffs grasp of English wasn't amazing but they were very friendly and this all added to the charm of this seemingly forgotten land. Such a mix of cultures. Unfortunately we only stayed a couple of days and had we had more time would have definitely stayed longer. I do recommend hiring a boat man to take you out on the dam as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes to be immeressed in culture and nature and definitely hope to go back. It did help that I can speak a bit of Thai when having to navigate the last bit of the journey as the bus drops you a little bit out of the way. Though the locals were very happy to help and the tattoo artist spoke perfect english and gave us a lift the last few minutes of the journey. It wasn't far to walk had it not been for my father and I carrying the luggage for 3 of us and my mum being less able than usual.
