A gem in the middle of an ever growing Ao Nang ”
Having stayed in many hotels in Ao Nang in the last 20 years, Ban Sainai is definitely up there in terms of overall enjoyment. Staff is always happy to help at any time of the day, and most are very friendly. Facilities are very good for the price, with the swimming pool being the star of the show here ! Nestled amongst palm trees and the beautiful cliff will definitely take your breath away ! The gym, if like me you do like getting up early to stay in shape and burn up a few calories is "ok" I have seen better and I have seen worse. Out of the 2 treadmills, only one is working properly and whilst I stayed there (10 days) the non working one wasn't fixed. The multi weight machine also has a couple of issues but still able to do a work out on it. The rooms were, for the price more than adequate, we had room 1003 / 1004 and both were clean if not a tiny little bit dated but still amazing value for the money. All normal amenities were available and more ! Hair dryer, mini fridge, torch, slippers, bath robes, kettle, tea/coffee... Very clean and well maintained just a little rough around the edges if you're looking hard. One of the oddities perhaps is the times the food is served up to ! At 8pm they close the restaurant which to me is a little early especially if you have been on a full day tour and want to come back, have a shower and freshen up before going for a meal. Maybe 9pm/10pm would be more convenient ? Then again hundreds of eateries are available down the road so just not picking here. In regards to breakfast, food is in general very good ! Not basic nor over the top. Includes cereals / pastries / curries / soups / rice dishes / yogurts / on demand eggs.... Plenty to choose from just make sure to arrive before 10am as choice becomes limited due to not replenishing after a certain time (breakfast does open from 6.30am so really not a problem here) A really nice touch was they brought over birthday pancakes and the staff sang happy birthday to my partner witho

The Ban Sainai is set amongst lush, tropical jungle and is like stepping into a different world with all the flora and fauna which is wonderful. We are regular travellers to Thailand and elsewhere and this is the loveliest place we have ever stayed. It is so difficult to find a place to holiday where there isn't constant loud muzak blaring out around the pool or by the beach. This is a dry resort and is like a retreat, focused on relaxation and sustainability. This is something that is very important to us. The option not to change bedding or towels unless specifically requested, glass bottled water, not plastic, and recycling bins throughout the site plus solar powered lighting. All of which we love. The breakfast is lovely, eggs and pancake dishes made to order as well as all the usual fare in a separate, air conditioned room. I would offer a polite suggestion that more vegetarian and vegan options are made available as this would speak further to the sustainability ethos and the clientele that will be attracted to the hotel. The pool area is lovely and so relaxing, with towels provided and a variety of food and non alcoholic drinks, which are delicious. Although a dry resort, you are allowed to have drinks in your own cottage which was fine with us. I personally don't enjoy being around people getting drunk by the pool. Another review I read said that, on their visit, people were drinking alcohol by the pool. Thankfully I didn't experience this and would have been upset if I had have. I think this is something that the hotel policy needs to be really clear and strict about and staff need to be supported to enforce this for the comfort of other guests. Also on a couple of occasions, there were families with children jumping and diving in the pool, shouting and screaming, one of the parents yakking loudly on his mobile phone and another father and teenage son throwing a ball around and shouting all which were disturbing for myself and other guests who were enjoying the peace and quiet. Staff did nothing about these disturbances. I know Thai people are gentle and do not enjoy confrontation but it needs not be confrontational to politely ask guests to understand that the Ban Sainai is a peaceful resort and for ball games not to be allowed and for guests to understand that it isn't a resort that is best suited to children. Children are welcome and if you are the type of family who enjoys nature then you will love it. If, however, you are hoping for children's play areas and things to keep them occupied and distracted, then go somewhere else. It isn't fair on guests wanting to switch off and enjoy complete relaxation, to have to listen to other people's noisy children. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the beach, which is handy but otherwise it is an easy 15 to 20 minute walk. For me, the only downside of the resort is it being in Ao Nang which we personally found quite boring. Also, it is a Muslim area and there are a lot of Indian restaurants, which we found to be really good. We're British so love a curry; but we don't really want to go to Thailand to visit Indian restaurants and overall the area didn't feel very Thai. There are a few bars but nothing particularly interesting or unique. Unlike other places in Thailand, where there are lots of live bands playing, Ao Nang has little to offer on that score. The beach is ok but again, compared to the white paradise like beaches in other areas of Thailand, nothing special. It's also really busy with boat traffic and the smell of diesel. Obviously, what goes on outside of Ban Sainai has nothing to with them but I think it's worth mentioning. That said, I could stay at Ban Sainai and never step outside the resort. Our cottage was gorgeous with a lovely deck. Remember you're in the jungle so mosquito repellent is a must. The nighttime sounds are incredible and we even had a monitor lizard pass by our deck. Breathtaking view of cliffs, mountains and lake. A lot of privacy in each cottage and comfortable. Free resort transport to Ao Nang town (only 5 mins). Masseuse at resort is also skilled, massage experience was great. Breakfast was good. Resort staff are hospitable. Could see the resort is authentically eco-friendly, using glass bottles, no plastics, solar lamps, etc. Love how the resort integrates itself with the surrounding greenery and their sustainability. Highly recommended.

Beautiful resort with exceptional service”
What an amazing resort. The Ban Sainai is spread over a large area which is all incredibly well maintained, with fantastic views and scenery all around. Swimming in the pool is amazing with the incredible outlook across to the surrounding limestone cliffs and the food at the pool was well prepared and presented. We stayed in a Cliff View cottage which was lovely. Just sitting on the terrace and looking out was awe inspiring. The cottages are quiet, comfortable and well maintained. I guess the only downside was the distance from the pool and reception so be prepared for quite a lot of walking. The breakfast was lovely, looking out across the pond watching the resident fish and monitor lizards. What really sets the Ban Sainai apart is the staff. From reception staff, to the cleaners and gardeners, everyone is so warm and friendly. They all stop what they are doing to give you a smile and a greeting. It seems they all care about the resort and their guests - something we did not experience in many of the hotels we stayed in. I do not have anything negative to say about the resort. A fabulous experience - thank you.

Absolutely beautiful resort! We were a group of 5 - 3 adults, one 9 year old and a nearly 3 year old. The cottages were spacious and comfortable set amongst beautifully maintained gardens. A world within a world! The pool was sparkling and refreshing with a view of palms and mountains with a lovely kids pool attached. Great all day pool menu with free ice blocks for the kids. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious with excellent choices and all you can eat. Even real coffee machines! The resort is located about 150 metres from the main road and an easy 20 minute walk to the beach via the shops. Also free shuttles to town and beach if you prefer. We’ll definitely be coming back!!
